De organisator probeerde uit te leggen dat stekelballen verboden waren in de recreatieve categorie. De robot antwoordde met een technische demonstratie die een einde maakte aan de discussie, het toernooi en waarschijnlijk verschillende verzekeringspolissen. The robot responded with a technical demonstration that ended the discussion, the tournament and probably several insurance policies. Since 2003, this small figure has retained its dramatic stance, with one arm raised and the other extended. The painted surface displays signs of age and handling, but the orange whip remains present. Excellent news for the collection, although considerably less encouraging for anything displayed within thirty centimetres.

Laut einigen zweifelhaften Quellen nahm diese Voltes V-Figur nicht an intergalaktischen Kämpfen teil, sondern an der gefürchteten Weltraummeisterschaft im Seilspringen. Jeden Morgen erschien der Roboter mit seiner orangefarbenen Peitsche, der stacheligen Kugel und dem Selbstvertrauen eines Teilnehmers, der niemals die Regeln gelesen hatte. Im Finale schwang Voltes V das Seil so kräftig, dass drei Schiedsrichter ihre Versetzung beantragten und ein benachbarter Satellit unauffällig seine Umlaufbahn änderte. Der Veranstalter versuchte zu erklären, dass Stachelwaffen in der Freizeitklasse verboten seien.
